Organic Buckwheat Hulls
We sell bulk organic buckwheat hulls by the pound. (Also known as buckwheat husks.)
When looking for bulk buckwheat hulls make sure they are specifically identified as being "certified organic" - if they are not identified as being "certified organic", they almost certainly are not.
Our buckwheat hulls are:
- government certified organic (certified organically grown and processed by OCPP/Pro-cert Canada Inc.)
- exceeding triple cleaning. Triple cleaning essentially eliminates buckwheat flour dust and broken hulls. The hulls are run through 5 different machines to ensure that the product is totally clean.
- stored in dry conditions at room temperature. Hulls from overseas may end up sitting for months in unheated and possibly damp warehouses.
- grown and processed in Canada. Many cheaper bulk buckwheat hulls being sold are from eastern Europe and Asia. Our hulls are grown and processed in Canada using standard North American organic guidelines for growing and processing. Hulls from overseas may also have been fumigated and may have a high content of broken hulls.
For a small pillow (14" by 20") you will need 4 pounds. A large pillow (17"x23") requires 6 pounds (if you want a really high firm pillow add 1 pound ). Approx. 7 1/2 pounds per cubic ft.
